I did it. I ran on Monday (yes, it took me 3 days to write this blog post!). It was more of a humbling, bumbling, jiggling, flop... still, I had moments of happiness. I learned a few things....
1. I should have been afraid of deer and bunnies (no dogs on my street today!).
2. Ear buds do not stay in my ears.
3. Lady Gaga does in fact make me want to run!
4. I thought I needed a partner, but actually the fake trainer in the iPhone app works JUST FINE! When she says "Let's run!" I feel like OK! YEAH! LET'S GO!
5. I can only run for about 45 seconds before I want to stop.
6. Mike's boxers make excellent running shorts at this point!
7. I'm going to do it again.

The End
I have been telling myself that I will start running "at the end of June". Now I'm here in what many rational people could call "the end of June" and I'm thinking... well, maybe I meant the "very end of June" or "the absolute last day of June". I am beginning to think of all kinds of reasons why next week (the last week of June) just will completely not work at all!
1. Alden has swimming lessons every single morning.
2. He also has his 4 year Well Child Check Up on Wednesday.
3. I am driving Glennys to the airport at 5:30am on Wednesday too!
4. I am scared of dogs on our road.
5. I am scared of sustaining black eyes from being clocked in the face by my giant boobs.
6. I am scared of sweating.
7. I am scared of being sexy...
Oh dear... there's a hot button. Now, I remember being in high school, college, ok... alive... and I remember always feeling like.. Ugh... I don't want anyone to look at me THAT way. Leering eyes from strangers or even from male friends made me totally uncomfortable. (This from a girl with.. ahem... an ample rack) I wanted to be 16 and meet my husband (just as my parents did!) and have that all out of the way so that I could be off the market and happy ever after. So, of course, when I met Mike at age 20, I already felt like a spinster who was likely destined for a life of many cats unless he happened to take a long-term shine to me. Enter years of unhappiness... and then years of happiness... and now total and complete contentment as we finally grew together into something that works like PB & J. So, from this psychic place of contentment...and being thirty-three years young... I am finally ready to begin to explore what it means to get fit... to potentially be sexy... and then, of course, this just makes me want to eat an entire loaf of sourdough.
But I won't. I WILL begin running next week. I heard a quote the other day "Be as much as you can, while you can." Not getting any younger...
How about Monday, June 25th? Sounds like as good a day as any...
Oh my god.....
